Despite the very wet conditions, the HSCC run meeting was a great start to the season. New A Sport driver, Spencer McCarthy took pole and led the race. Ray Mallock was hard on Spencer's tail, though unfortunately retired with an electrical fault which then allowed Mark Charteris to close in and on the penultimat lap outbroke Spencer for the lead and race win. The B Sport race was very exciting with lots of close dicing and spins in the heavy rain and the eventual winner, taking the lead on the last corner of the last lap was Paul Marshall. Croft 28/29th April; Ist lady winner ever in Clubmans! Michelle Hayward won the Clubmans Cup race in her Mallock Mk27 on the Saturday after a great race with partner Mike Evans ! Tom Brown was in the mix until he spun out, leaving 3rd place to Barry Webb (Mk23). The Sunday race was unfortunately abandoned after a red flag incident on the 2nd lap, due to atrocious weather conditions. The Classic Clubmans race on Saturday was won by Mark Charteris who also set an outstanding new lap record, Paul Marshall taking the B Sport honours to extend his lead in the Championship. The wet Sunday race again saw Mark Charteris take the flag, sparring partner John Harrison unfortunately crashed in qualifying in the super-slippery conditions. Clive Wood came through the field to win the B Sport class - after a stirling effort to make it to the meeting. Snetterton Open Sports Cars Series opening round 28/29th April; 2 x front engined Mallock cars featured at this event Jonty Hair (latest Mk36) in class B and Tim Covill Mk31 Hyabusa in class D. Both drivers survived a start line shunt to put themselves in the lead for the opening laps, opening up a impressive lead until they too fell foul of the slippery conditions, not to finish the race. Brands Hatch 28th April 750 Formula Championship; Dave Facer put his Mallock Mk16 on pole and went on to finish 4th overall, 1st in class in race 1 after some great racing.
